Russell Barron

Russ is a patent lawyer and litigator with more than four decades of practical experience managing patent infringement litigation in pharmaceuticals, medical devices, high efficiency electric motors, power electronics, mass-spectrometry, cardiac monitors, sensors, batteries, air handling equipment, materials handling equipment, polymer chemistry and physics, surface physics, non-Newtonian fluid flow, software and other technologies. Russ was a founding partner of the IP practice of Foley & Lardner and developed that firm’s IP litigation practice.

In addition to serving as counsel in multiple patent-related arbitrations, Russ has also served as an arbitrator and mediator in patent infringement, invention ownership and software defect matters.

Russ graduated from Princeton University and New York University Law School after serving as an infantry officer in the US Army. His bar admissions include the United States Supreme Court, Massachusetts, and New York. He is admitted to practice as a patent attorney in the United States Patent and Trademark Office.

Russ has guided and counseled countless client matters to the successful avoidance or resolution of complex litigation and critical business transactions. He has taught “The Business of Intellectual Property” at Northwestern’s Kellogg School of Management and advised private sector investors on the valuation and enforcement of intellectual property rights.

Russ recently completed ten years of service as the General Counsel, Corporate Secretary, and board member of Velico Medical, Inc., a clinical stage medical device company. He continues to serve as a director of Extend Biosciences Inc., a clinical stage pharmaceutical company.
